Responsibilities

As an Arrow Marine Mechanic, you are required to diagnose, repair, remove and install engines, mechanical systems, electrical and fluid systems of commercial vessels. The Marine Mechanic will have the ability to troubleshoot major and minor mechanical problems, as well as repair and adjust all necessary components. 

 

  • Troubleshoot and repair vessel diesel engines and equipment, including electrical, mechanical and hydraulic systems
  • Install new and added-on equipment
  • Repair cooling, and lubrication systems
  • Clean, lubricate and perform other maintenance work
  • Keep detailed and accurate maintenance reports and documentation
  • Maintain a working knowledge of changes in technology and repair techniques
  • Work in adherence to all safe work practices, procedures, as well as all regulatory requirements
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor/manager

You Possess

  • Minimum 3 years' experience as a ticketed Heavy-Duty Mechanic, marine experience is an asset
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proven mechanical abilities in hydraulics and electrical, including schematics and diagnostics
  • Electrical experience with 12/24/110 volt is an asset
  • Previous welding & fabricating experience is an asset
  • Confined space training is an asset
  • Class 5 forklift ticket an asset
  • Strong safety mindset
  • Ability to take initiative and work effectively with minimal supervision
  • Able to work well under pressure
  • Demonstrates strong communication skills both verbally and written
  • Solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment
  • Quality oriented and strong attention to detail
  • Responsible, accountable and dependable
