The Tire Technician is responsible for working with our mechanics in the shop to ensure the safe and efficient use, care, and maintenance of the tires on our tractor and trailer fleet. The Tire Technician is responsible for changing tires and balancing wheels. Working in a fast-paced environment with complex machinery, the Technician will diagnose problems quickly. The Technician should be capable of multitasking, working under pressure, and be accountable for quality of their work.


Major responsibilities include:


  • Install and remove wheels on tactors and trailers, mounting and dismounting tires
  • Diagnose and repair commercial and passenger tires
  • Ensure tires are in excellent condition by checking pressure, inflate, balance, repair, service, or replace tires
  • Rotate tires to increase tread wear
  • Retorque wheel nuts from all units as needed
  • Perform on road tire repairs as needed to reduce and better manage outside vendor expenses
  • Yard checks
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work environment
  • Ability to operate the equipment that is serviced i.e. bring trucks, trailers, and mobile equipment in and out of the shop. 
  • Maintain a working knowledge of changes in technology and repair techniques
  • Complying with all rules and regulations, protocols, and established metrics
  • Follow all workplace safety policies and compliance regulations, participate in identifying hazards
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor

You Possess

  • A minimum of 2-3 years of previous commercial or fleet tire experience
  • Ability to perform basic repairs with previous experience working with a wide range of tires
  • Strong safety mindset
  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
  • Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment
  • Demonstrates strong communication skills both verbally and written
  • Quality oriented
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Possess a valid driver’s license
