Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Project Manager, the Compost Facility Labourer is responsible for assisting in the daily operations of the composting facility. The role of the Compost Facility Labourer is to assist with yard maintenance, cleaning of equipment, managing inventories, and helping around the shop. Other duties include general site clean up, directing traffic, and other tasks as assigned.

  • Assisting machine operators on site.
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the facility by sweeping, shoveling, mowing, and removing debris as necessary.
  • Maintenance of fleet equipment, e.g. wash
  • Follow all workplace safety policies, and compliance regulations, participate in identifying hazards.
  • Assist with environmental compliance protocols.
  • Establish or adjust daily tasks/schedules to meet changing order priorities
  • Provide internal and external Customer Service excellence
  • Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of yard, shop, department, or work crew
  • Ability to understand cross training on all functions at facility
  • May be asked to travel to other facilities if necessary.
  • Monitor and report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to the coordinator.
  • Support the completion of necessary paperwork and recordkeeping associated with daily operations.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor/manager

You Possess

  • Class 5 license
  • Level 1 First Aid
  • Strong safety mindset.
  • Quality oriented with a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of equipment operation and maintenance is an asset.
  • Good communication skills and ability to follow instructions.
  • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
  • Responsible, accountable, and dependable.
  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude.
  • Ability to carry at least 50 lbs
