Our Fort St. James division is home to a close-knit team of 20 professionals, including shop technicians, professional drivers, equipment operators, and administrative staff. Located about two hours northwest of Prince George, this division plays a key role in sourcing and transporting bush grind hog fuel and pulp logs, working collaboratively with the Ministry of Forests and local tenure holders.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Regional Manager, the Division Manager is responsible for leading all aspects of divisional operations, ensuring safety, profitability, regulatory compliance, and customer satisfaction.

 

This role plays a critical leadership role in developing strategic plans, building customer and Indigenous partnerships, managing assets and maintenance, and overseeing fibre acquisition and operational grinding programs.

 

You will work closely with divisional teams, corporate departments, the Ministry of Forests, Indigenous communities, and tenure holders to drive business success.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Champion and maintain a strong safety-first culture
  • Lead annual strategic planning, budgeting, and operational goal setting
  • Secure approximately 300,000 cubic meters of pulp logs and 200,000 cubic meters of slash piles annually
  • Obtain and manage Ministry of Forests approvals for slash pile grinding activities
  • Collaborate with the Operations Foreman to implement the grinding and hauling plan
  • Build and foster trusted relationships with tenure holders, Indigenous communities, the Ministry of Forests, and customers
  • Manage all divisional resources (people and equipment) to achieve operational and financial targets
  • Oversee divisional maintenance planning, ensuring compliance and minimizing lifecycle costs
  • Oversee divisional grinding and fibre hauling activities
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a motivated, high-performing team
  • Promote a culture of open communication, respect, and participative problem-solving
  • Uphold company policies and corporate compliance standards
  • Other duties as assigned by the Regional Manager

You Possess

  • Degree or diploma in Forestry, Natural Resources, or a related field
  • Registered Professional Forester (RPF) or Registered Forest Technologist (RFT) designation with FPBC
  • Proven success in operational leadership and resource coordination
  • Strong safety leadership mindset and commitment
  • Excellent communication, relationship-building, and leadership skills
  • Experience fostering partnerships with Indigenous communities
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical and financial acumen
  • Highly organized with a strong work ethic and positive attitude
  • Proficient with various business software and applications
  • Ability to thrive under pressure in a dynamic environment
