Reporting to the Division Manager, the Lead Hand works alongside the crew, directs their daily work, trouble shoots issues, problem solves and brings questions or concerns to the attention of the manager. The Lead Hand will safely and efficiently transfer various products that arrive at our facility by truck or rail to our valued customers.  

• Work and report to the immediate supervisor to prioritize daily job requirements.  
• Work alongside crew and informs them of the daily plan.  
• Responsible for the accurate and timely processing of paperwork.  
• Monitor the performance of yard, shop and/or divisional employees and discusses with the supervisor as necessary.
• Continue to perform the work for which he/she was hired i.e. Driving truck, Operating machinery, Repair and Maintenance etc.
• Report all incidents, problems or concerns with regards to technical, safety, labour, materials, equipment and process to the immediate supervisor.
• Provide internal and external Customer Service excellence.
• Ability to understand cross training on all functions at facility.
• Troubleshoot, adjust, or perform minor maintenance for any machinery that requires attention.
• Work in adherence to all safe work practices, procedures, as well as all regulatory requirements.  
• Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of yard, shop, department, or work crew.  
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor/manager.  
• Travel to other location may be required.  

• Previous relevant experience is required.
• Experience with high capacity forklifts is required. 
• Experience with routine maintenance operations.

• Ability to climb railcars/ladders safely, lift 50lbs, and swing 10lbs sledge hammer.
• Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
• First Aid skills and/or certificates are considered assets.
• Experience working with computers an asset.
