  • Competitive Pay: $34.74 per hour (trip rated); $89,000 - $110,000 annually

Responsibilities

As an Arrow Driver for our Quesnel Fibre Division, you will be Home Everyday!  Our Professional Drivers haul wood fibre locally in B train trailers. Wood fibre is mainly comprised of wood chips, but we also haul sawdust and hog fuel. You will travel on various highways in and around Quesnel and Northern BC.

 

  • Oversee cargo handling and secure loads, including equipment preparation, application of safe practices, compliance with applicable Acts and Regulations. 
  • Perform pre and post and en route trip inspections on equipment operated, ensuring safety, roadworthiness and regulatory compliance. 
  • Comply with applicable legislation including safe operation, load securement, driver's hours of service, occupational health and safety, transportation of dangerous goods, and weights and dimensions. 
  • Comply with all rules and regulations, protocols and established metrics. 
  • Efficiently maneuver truck and trailer(s) into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading crew as needed; check that vehicle position is correct and any special loading equipment is properly positioned. 
  • May operate loading equipment as per role requirements. 
  • Check mobile equipment (i.e. frontend loaders) to ensure that mechanical and safety equipment is in good working order. 
  • Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles to the relevant supervisor. 
  • Report all safety hazards or conditions encountered at load, unload, yard and shop sites. 
  • Record, Maintain and Check all relevant paperwork (i.e. bill of lading,) and documentation to ensure that it is complete and accurate. 
  • Operate equipment such as truck cab computers, CB radios, and telephones to exchange necessary information with bases, supervisors, or other drivers. 
  • Complete electronic and/or manual logs of working hours and of vehicle service and repair status, following applicable provincial and federal regulations. 
  • Communicate effectively and courteously with the public, customers, and co-workers. 
  • Assist in loading and unloading of trucks. 
  • Perform periodic inspections before, during, and after delivery to ensure that load is properly fastened down and is secure. 
  • Ensure that material is properly protected from the outdoor elements.  Tarping loads may be a requirement. 
  • Ensure that any debris caused by the loading/unloading of truck is cleaned up. 
  • Provide feedback to supervisor/dispatch regarding customer problems, mechanical problems, or delivery problems. 
  • Ensure that all customers, co-workers and the public are dealt with professionally and with respect. 
  • Train others when required. 

 

You Possess

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent 
  • Ability to read, write and speak in English 
  • Class 1 driver’s license and MELT 
  • Super B and mountain driving experience required
  • Proven ability to drive in snow and to chain tires when necessary. Ability to drive in other adverse weather conditions
  • Clean drivers abstract or record 
  • Air brake endorsement  
  • Ability to move 100 pounds, lift 50 lbs overhead and lift to shoulder height 75lbs  
  • Ability to sit long durations 
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug test 
  • Ability to take and follow direction Ability to understand cross training on all functions at facility
