We Offer

  • Competitive Pay $88,000 to $110,000 per year
  • Pension $3.23/hr (approximately $9,000 - $10,500 per year)

Responsibilities

The Mobile Mechanic is responsible for coordinating, scheduling, and performing maintenance activities for a fleet of heavy haul and bush grind trucks and equipment. This position will perform mechanical repairs and diagnostics in the field and may move trucks and/or equipment to and from job sites and repair facilities. The Mechanic ensures that all fleet assets are safe, compliant, and in optimal working condition to support continuous operations.

 

Major Responsibilities

  • Schedule and coordinate regular maintenance, inspections, and repairs for trucks and equipment.
  • Perform mechanical and electrical repairs in the field (e.g., hoses, fittings, tires, lights, batteries, and basic troubleshooting).
  • Diagnose issues and coordinate more complex repairs with certified technicians or external shops.
  • Provide routine maintenance on tractors, trailers and mobile equipment such as excavators, graders and wheel loaders
  • Check all equipment for proper performance and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions
  • May operate mobile shop vehicle to repair vehicles in field.
  • May operate Class 1 vehicles to move units between job sites, shops, and yards as needed.
  • Assist in recovery and transport of disabled units from remote or bush locations.
  • Liaise with drivers, mechanics, and vendors to ensure timely service and minimal downtime.
  • Operate equipment such as truck cab computers, 2-way radios, and telephones to exchange necessary information with bases, dispatch, supervisors, or other drivers.
  • Complete electronic logs of working hours and of vehicle service and repair status.
  • Ensure that all customers, co-workers and the public are dealt with professionally and with respect.
  • Maintain safe working conditions and adhere to Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
  • Perform incidental welding repairs on equipment.
  • Other duties as required.

 

You Possess

  • Must hold a Journeyman’s certificate or have Red Seal in a mechanic trade.
  • Proven mechanical abilities in hydraulics and electrical, including schematics and diagnostics.
  • Recent experience with routine maintenance operations.
  • Valid Class 1 Drivers license is preferred.
  • Previous experience coordinating fleet maintenance, or heavy equipment.
  • Comfortable using computers and learning new software applications.
  • Ability to work independently in remote/bush environments.
  • Clean driver’s abstract with no suspensions.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
  • A positive attitude.
  • At least two previous supervisory references.
