As an Arrow Edmonton Flat Deck Driver, you will be hauling products that are directly related to the Strength and Diversity of the region. Primarily hauling Steel Pipe, Formed Concrete or Lumber, and based out of Edmonton, you will travel primarily around Alberta and will also travel to and from British Columbia.
Major Responsibilities
Oversee cargo handling and secure loads, including equipment preparation, safe work practices, and compliance with applicable Acts and Regulations.
Perform pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections to ensure equipment safety, roadworthiness, and regulatory compliance.
Comply with all applicable legislation, policies, protocols, and performance metrics, including hours of service, load securement, occupational health and safety, transportation of dangerous goods, and weights and dimensions.
Maneuver truck and trailer(s) safely into loading and unloading positions, following loading crew signals and ensuring proper vehicle and equipment positioning.
Assist with loading and unloading of trucks and operate loading equipment as required by the role.
Inspect mobile and related equipment (e.g., front-end loaders) to ensure mechanical and safety components are in proper working order.
Conduct periodic inspections before, during, and after transport to ensure loads are secure, protected from the elements, and tarped when required.
Ensure debris resulting from loading or unloading activities is cleaned up.
Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, damage, and safety hazards encountered at loading, unloading, yard, or shop sites to the appropriate supervisor.
Maintain accurate and complete documentation, including bills of lading, electronic or manual logs, and vehicle service and repair records, in accordance with provincial and federal regulations.
Operate communication and onboard equipment (e.g., truck computers, CB radios, telephones) to exchange information with dispatch, supervisors, and other drivers.
Communicate professionally and courteously with customers, co-workers, and the public, and provide feedback to supervisors or dispatch regarding customer, mechanical, or delivery issues.
Train others when required.

High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
Valid Class 1 driver’s license with MELT certification and air brake endorsement.
Super B and mountain driving experience required.
Proven ability to operate in snow and other adverse weather conditions, including chaining tires when required.
Clean driver’s abstract.
Physically capable of lifting up to 100 lbs, lifting 50 lbs overhead, lifting 75 lbs to shoulder height, and sitting for extended periods.
Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test.
Ability to take direction, follow instructions, and cross-train across facility functions.
Computer literate with a basic understanding of vehicle and trailer maintenance requirements.
Strong organizational skills, including task prioritization and adherence to timelines.
Self-directed and able to work with minimal supervision.
