Arrow is looking for a dedicated and experienced Return to Work/ Risk Coordinator to support the Arrow Group of Companies by providing both proactive and reactive services in relation to injuries in the workplace. This is a key role for someone passionate about safety, who understands the unique challenges of working in claims management.

Responsibilities

Injury Claims Management 

  • Oversee injury claims management for all Arrow businesses
  • Manage individual case management with WCB (appeals, documentation, return-to-work programs, disputes, etc.)
  • Maintain current knowledge of all WCB regulations across multiple jurisdictions.  Liaise with external stakeholders as the principal company in contact with respect to injury claims.  Serve as a resource to all staff regarding injury claims management
  • Assist Division management and staff by developing and providing training to ensure injury claims management best practices are being followed
  • Utilize various data streams, identify claims management deficiencies and develop strategies, including training programs, to counteract trends.  Prioritize activities and provide reports to management and staff 
  • Work with local physiotherapy providers to develop Pre-Employment Pre-Functional Testing (PFT) for identified divisions to reduce impact on potential candidates with pre-existing conditions
  • Assist with Early Access to Physio Program (EAP), by working with divisions and local physiotherapy providers, to provide early intervention to employees with musculoskeletal injuries
  • Provide ongoing educational sessions on the EAP with stakeholders as necessary. Stakeholders could include employees, unions, and local operational management
  • Ensure Physical Demands Analysis (PDA) are completed for all positions with the company and posted on Arrow's Intranet site
  • Conduct ongoing review of company PDA to ensure they remain accurate
  • Work with divisions to complete a comprehensive modified duties list
  • Develop creative and meaningful modified duties for injured employees that cannot be accommodated in the workplace
  • Manage Injury Management Plans for injured workers in conjunction with the employee, division management, and WCB
  • Track and analyze the costs and benefits of the disability management program
  • Provide monthly claims reports to management at all levels, ensure division management have full understanding of claims costs and their impact on overall WCB rates
  • Generate KPI for monthly Operational Report and Annual HSE Executive Review
  • Develop manuals, policies, and procedures for claims management practices and implement them
  • Periodically perform WCB audits on divisions

Drug and Alcohol Program Management 

  • Serve as designated employer representative and principal contact with Driver Check relating to pre-employment, random, post-incident and for-cause drug test results
  • Communicate results with Division staff, as appropriate
  • Assist Division management and staff with training tied to corporate drug and alcohol policies and procedures
  • Maintenance of confidential documentation as appropriate

Insurance Management 

  • Work directly with the Director of HSE and Operational Risk to facilitate annual renewals
  • Manage and maintain comprehensive reports for insurance brokers

Other

  • Perform other job/administration duties as required and assigned by the Director of HSE and Operational Risk
  • Travel as required to various divisions or corporate offices  (Less than 5%)

You Possess

  • Minimum five years of experience in disability claims management
  • A bachelor’s degree in a health-related field and/or degree/certification relevant to the position is preferred
  • Working towards and ongoing maintenance of Certified Disability Management Professional (CDMP) certification
  • Good knowledge of the Worker’s Compensation Act and regulations
  • Must have a valid Class 5 driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract
  • Strong capacity for strategic thinking
  • Proven leadership skills with demonstrated credibility amongst executive and management teams
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including planning, prioritization, and execution
  • Ability to write and maintain company policies and procedures
  • Ability to communicate effectively (verbal, written, and presentations)
  • Effective attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy
  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
  • Able to build and maintain lasting relationships with other departments and local and government WCB agencies
  • Proven excellence and commitment to customer service (internal and external)
  • Experience gathering and compiling data, and preparing reports
  • Computer literacy and ability to adapt to and leverage existing and new software
  • Able to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
